Privacy policy
The short version: your exact location never leaves your phone. There is no account, no ads and no tracking, and nothing about you is sold.
Effective 15 October 2026
Who we are
Tinkers Trek is made by Lucky Yak Software LLC. This policy covers the Tinkers Trek game for Android and this website. Questions go to lucky_yak@tinkerstrek.com.
Your location
Tinkers Trek is played on the real map, so it needs your phone's precise location while you play. It uses your location on your phone to draw the map around you, to decide what resources appear near you, and to count the distance you walk. Your exact location is never sent to us or to anyone else, and we keep no record of where you have been.
When you start a walk, the game can keep counting your distance with the screen off. It does this with a foreground location service, so Android shows a notification for as long as the walk runs, and it stops when you end the walk.
Map downloads
To draw the map, the game downloads map pieces from our map server. Each request names a map area at least several kilometres across, never your exact position. Like any internet request, it also carries your phone's IP address. We use these requests only to send you the map; we do not keep logs of them, and we do not use them to build a picture of where you go. Our map server and this website are delivered through Cloudflare, which processes requests on our behalf to deliver them.
What stays on your phone
Your save (your progress, items, pets and settings) and a cache of the map pieces you have downloaded are stored on your phone only. Uninstalling the game, or clearing its data in Android's settings, deletes all of it.
What we don't collect
There is no account and no sign-in. The game does not collect your name, email address, contacts, photos or payment details. It contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools, and it shares nothing about you with advertisers or data brokers. Nothing about you is sold.
Permissions
Location (precise): to play on the map, as described above. Internet: to download map pieces. Notifications (optional): to show the notification while a walk is being counted, and other notifications from the game. Vibration: for haptic feedback in the minigames.
This website
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Cloudflare, which hosts it, processes the technical details of each visit (such as your IP address) to deliver the pages and protect the site.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. If a change affects what the game collects, we will say so in the game's update notes as well.
